A leading local contractor called us in to help out on a big school contract they had picked up. Here’s the folding partition concertina wall we installed in an assembly hall.

This is a concertina wall from our Acoustic range. The wall is top-hung with no floor track. The doors concertina back from a central partition and stack neatly on either side of the wide opening. The concertina wall has a wipe-clean laminate finish, making it a practical choice for a school.

Concertina walls are a great way to divide up a space. They are popular in schools in two main situations:

• Where a large space such as a drama studio, sports hall or assembly room sometimes needs to be divided up so that students can work on different projects without disturbing each other.
  
• Where a large store cupboard contains bulky items such as gym benches, crash mats and stage flats that could not be manoeuvred out through a conventional door.
  

There are many commercial operations that benefit from concertina walls and folding partitions for similar reasons. Wherever it is useful sometimes to have a larger space and sometimes a smaller space, partitions are the pragmatic solution. With a concertina wall you can have the best of both worlds: one big room or two smaller ones.
