Sliding Security Grilles: New Installation at University of East Anglia

The University of East Anglia (UEA) has a student population of 15,000 people and prides itself on offering the best facilities for both learning and entertainment. In recent years the university’s campus has seen a number of new developments and when the Student Union announced plans to refurbish Union House on the site, we were only too happy to assist.

Union House is the home to much of what the Students’ Union offers for those attending the university; with spaces for entertainment, education and support. Earlier this summer, as part of the second phase of refurbishments to the building, we were asked by LSI Architects to supply and install two side sliding security grilles to close off the newly redesigned shop area.

Simflex Concept 99 Sliding Grilles

Measuring 3m x 2.5m and 2m by 2.5m, these manually operated doors offer an effective barrier when the shop area is closed. The grilles we supplied for this project are one of the most commonly requested for retail and public buildings, with a solution available to suit just about any shaped opening. They can therefore be used wherever there is a necessity to limit access to an area and have previously been installed in: 

• Shopping centres
  
• Bars, kiosks and serveries
  
• Railways, ports and airports

With a choice of aluminium, mesh, glazed and in filled panel designs for you to choose from, we are confident of having a grille design to complement the look of your business or organisation.

Latest Project for the University of East Anglia

At Cooks Blinds and Shutters, we have an excellent working relationship with the UEA and this is just the latest project we have undertaken for them. In the past we have carried out the installation of:

• Fire shutters in the cloakroom area of the LCR
  
• An insulated fire shutter for the photocopying area
  
• Two new bar shutters

In addition to that we also have an ongoing maintenance contract to service their automated doors. This ensures that any faults or wear and tear with the doors can be identified before they develop into something more serious.
