Spring is here which means you’ll want a clean home that sparkles in the sunlight. When it comes to looking after your blinds, it pays to make sure they get a little TLC all year round. Doing so needn’t be a chore: with just a few simple techniques you can improve the longevity of your blinds whilst keeping your home looking fresh. Take a glance at our three top tips to maintain your blinds.

Dust Musts

Cooks Blinds manufacture a range of low-maintenance vertical, venetian and pleated blinds in a range of colours and fabrics. Once you’ve found the perfect blinds for your bedroom or study, these elegant items can be cleaned by using a thick feather duster on a weekly basis. Cleaning “little and often” in this way, you’ll continue to be pleased with dust-free blinds – bringing effervescent style to your room once the spring sunshine starts to shine through.

Tender Loving Care

Whilst Cooks Blinds are made in a variety of long-lasting materials, you can sustain the longevity and quality of your purchase by ensuring you apply the right cleaning techniques. Depending on the material and style of your blinds, there are different techniques that are appropriate. Roman blinds are a durable option, but make sure to check the care label of your fabric. If using a damp cloth to spot-clean areas, always squeeze out as much excess water as possible prior to application. Many vertical blinds are washable but, if you are in any doubt, give us a call in store.

Carefully Does It

Prevention is always better than cure. Before raising your venetian blinds, always ensure that the slats are tilted fully open. When opening the window behind the venetian always raise the blind first. Pushing your hands through the slats only causes unnecessary wear and tear on the blind and could even cause one of the slats to kink, if aluminium. Cooks Blinds can supply you with Roller Blinds in a variety of specialised fabrics, from thermal and solar control materials to bespoke printed designs. Ensure you get the most of your fabric blinds by taking care not to pull the chain across the material when raising and lowering the blinds as this can cause fraying.
