The University of East Anglia is expanding its broadcast journalism courses, and they’ve recently taken over the old Radio Broadland studios in Colegate. We were asked to fit grilles to three of the windows to add an extra layer of security for the specialist broadcast equipment that will be stored there.

New Lease of Life for Historic Studios

Lovers of local radio will remember Radio Broadland - at its height of popularity in the 1990s, it was listened to by half the population of Norfolk and North Suffolk. The studios were taken over by Heart Norwich before being abandoned in 2019. UEA were looking for space to host their new BA course in broadcast journalism and took up the lease this year.

Secured by Design

We supplied and installed three manually operated Seceurogate 1001 Security Grilles. One double for the largest window and two singles for the smaller windows. These are high end grilles that have the Secured by Design police-approved accreditation.

The attractive X lattice design grilles were reveal-fixed to the internal side of the windows. Fixed tracks top and bottom hold the white powder-coated grilles in  place.
